Daniel from Romania operates robots at Soliver

2019-03-22

Daniel Ujeniuc from Romania found his dream job in Belgium and has Let's Work to thank for that. His story: "I used to work for Let's Work as a reach truck driver on a 2 month contract. Loredana, my contact at Let's Work, asked me what I wanted to do after that. And I told her I wanted to go back to Romania to try and find a job as an engineer so I could use my university degree. But Loredana said: "What if we found you an engineering job here in Belgium?" I had my doubts because of the language barrier, but I decided to give it a try and go on a job interview."

Engineering job at Soliver

Since september Daniel works as a robot operator at Soliver: "What appeals most to me about my job is that I get to work with robots. That is in my line of expertise and interest. At university I did a big project on robots and my ultimate dream is to become a robot programmer. My work station at Soliver now has 5 robots and I have four Belgian colleagues in my team to help me operate them."

"Let's Work found me the perfect job."

Benefits of working for Let's Work?

"With other job partners in Belgium you're most likely to work in construction or food or any kind of industry, really. Thanks to Let's Work I'm now working in my own field of experience and interest. In september I started in the Soliver-plant in Rumbeke. A regular training program at Soliver usually takes 4 months to complete, but I completed my training in 1,5 months. When I wake up in the morning I'm happy to go to work and face new challenges with my robots. Everyday I face different problems and I need to solve them. So my job is very challenging and I love that. It doesn't feel like working."

"Time flies when I'm working, since my job has a lot of challenges."

Improving leadership qualities

"When I finished my university studies I didn't think it was possible for me to work abroad because of the language barrier, but I'm learning Dutch now. My biggest challenge is to be a good leader. With robots it's easy, but with people it's harder. You need to motivate them and make sure everybody works well together as a team. If one person doesn't function well it's not good for the production process."

Housing by Let's Work

"Let's Work helped me integrate in Belgium as well. Without a Belgian contract you cannot get housing. But Let's Work not only found me the job I wanted, I live in one of their great housing solutions near my work place. Moreover, I love the personal approach of Let's Work: they help me solve any problem I come across in Belgium."

"There are a lot of great jobs and opportunities for people with technical profiles and degrees."

I love Belgium

"The industry in Belgium is definitely up. It's easier to find a well paid job with a lot of growing potential here than in Romania. I now started as a robot operator, but in time I hope to learn to be a robot programmer. I want to keep learning, develop my skills and keep my mind busy. Next week my engineering friend Immanuel from university starts at Soliver with Let's Work."
